Mount Kilimanjaro, 8 days Lemosho Route

Day 1, Arrival and transfer to Moshi
Upon your arrival at the Arusha Airport, you will be met by our company representative in Tanzania and transfer to Moshi town for dinner and overnight stay

Day 2, Transfer to Londorossi Gate (2100m) - Mti Mkubwa camp (2750m)
After breakfast, transfer from Moshi to Londorossi Gate passing through villages with coffee and banana plantations. On arrival at the Park’s Gate you will choose your own hiking guide and porters. You need to Sign the register before you enter the park. From here a forest track requiring a 4WD vehicle leads to Lemosho Glades (2100m, 11km, 45 minutes or more if you want or have to walk). Dinner and overnight stay at Mti Mkubwa camp, the hike takes 3 hours and the habitat is montane forest

Day 3, Mti Mkubwa camp to Shira 2 camp (3840m)

You will rise early at Mti Mkubwa camp and have breakfast after which  you climb to the top of the forest and then the trail gradually steepness and enter the giant heather moorland zone. You will cross several streams before you do a gentle walk across the plateau which leads to Shira 2-camp. In an easterly direction, you will be able to view the Western Breach with its stunning glaciers. Enjoy dinner and overnight at the campsite. the day’s hiking takes 7 hours through the moorland habitat

Day 4, Shira)-Lava Tower (4630m)-Barranco camp (3950m)

After breakfast a the campsite, now turn east into a semi desert and rocky landscape surrounding Lava Tower, where you reach an altitude of 4630m after about a 5 hours walk. It is normally around this point, where for the first time, some climbers will start to feel symptoms of breathlessness, irritability and headaches. After lunch you descent again to the Barranco camping area and after reaching the high altitude of 4600m at Lava Tower, the true acclimatisation benefit of this day becomes clear. This descent to Barranco camp takes about 2 hours and offers great opportunities to take some beautiful photographs of the Western Breach and Breach Wall. The camp is situated in a valley below the Breach and Great Barranco Wall, which should provide you with a memorable sunset while you wait for the preparation of your dinner. The day’s hike takes 7 hours through the Semi desert habitat.

Day 5, Barranco camp (3950m) - Barafu camp (4550m)
Wake up early and make your way up to the awesome looking obstacle. The route then heads down through the Karanga Valley over intervening ridges and valleys. This is the last water stop on the route and then joins up with the Mweka route. Turn left up the ridge and after another hour or so, you reach Barafu Hut for dinner and overnight. he day’s hike takes 7 hours through the Alpine desert.

Day 6, Reach the Summit
Barafu camp to Uhuru Peak (5895m)-Mweka (3100m)
After an early morning served breakfast, you will start hiking to access the summit. You will head in a North West direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is a 6-hour walk and for many climbers, mentally and physically is the most challenging point on the route. Stop for a short rest and after ascent to Uhuru Peak where you will encounter snow all the way to the peak. The time you will spend on the summit will depend on the weather conditions. Take photographs and enjoy the long life time experience while at the summit and later start to descend up to the Barafu camp and this takes about 3 hours. Have lunch and relaxation at the camp before heading down to Mweka camp which is 3100m. Dinner and overnight at Mweka camp and this day’s hike takes 8 hours to Uhuru peak and 8 hours to Mweka camp.

Day 7, Descend to Mweka Gate (1980m)
After an early served breakfast, descend back to the Park gate at Mweka. It is a 5 hours descend and upon arrival at the gate you sign your name and details in a register and be awarded your summit certificates which are goldish in colour. Your guide will be waiting for you and later he will transfer you to Arusha town for dinner and overnight say ion a comfortable hotel.

Day 8, Arusha
